A 28 year old Sikh woman was found dead in Greenford North London, with serious head injuries and one of her hands mutilated. Mother of two Geeta Aulakh, was left in a pool of blood as she was picking her children up after work. This was her daily routine and she was left to die just yards away from her child minders door.
Her estranged husband is believed to be one of six men to be arrested and is being quizzed by police. It is also believed that Mrs. Aulakh demanded a divorce just days before the incident. The murder of the receptionist from national Asian radio station Sunrise Radio, Southall has left the public and her colleagues shocked and some of her colleagues arrived to work in tears.
Ms. Seema Sida who had walked home with Mrs. Aulakh described and paid tribute to Mrs. Aulakh by saying: “She was a very helpful, very happy person, always smiling. All of us are very confused and surprised to hear what has happened. Why someone would do this to her I have no idea. It is something you never expect to report about your colleague.”
Some of Mrs. Aulakh’s colleagues reported her death on air and there is a tribute programme being planned. The children are currently in social care, but will be returned to the family.
Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact the Incident Room on 020 8247 7821 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
