Sikhs Holiest Shrine exhibition

‘The Golden Temple of Amritsar’ exhibition promises to be a cutting-edge, world-class show that will leave an estimated 20,000 visitors with a lasting appreciation for Sikh cultural heritage.

•Venue: Brunei GalleryRoom
•Address: Brunei Gallery, SOAS, University of London, Thornhaugh Street, Russell Square, London, WC1H 0XG.
•Date: 14 July 2011 to 25 September 2011
•Open: Tuesday to Sunday: 10.30 — 17.00; Thursday 10:30 — 20:00*
•Closed: Mondays and Bank Holidays*
*Also: Closed on Sat & Sun 6/7, 13/14 & 20/21 August due to unavoidable essential works

Open Monday 8, 15 and 22 August
Additional late night openings until 8.00pm on Friday 12, 19 & 26 August

Visitors to the exhibition will learn about the Golden Temple’s history and devotees, and be able to experience its awe-inspiring beauty and artistry in a way that has never been presented before.

The exhibition will also celebrate a bygone era when the Sikh nation was amongst the most powerful in Asia, and its arts and culture were at their height.

To open up this rich cultural heritage to a wider audience, we plan to hold an extensive programme of events and lectures for all age ranges.
